By design, PowerPoint is not compatible
with Flash. But there is a third party tool that solves this problem.
GlobFX
has developed an add-in for PowerPoint that allows you to insert
Flash movies. With the Swiff Point Player you can now show flash movies through your
PowerPoint presentations.
Download Swiff Point Player and install it.
Next,
open PowerPoint. If you have the drawing toolbar visible, you will
notice an additional icon on it (a blue "s"). Click it to search
your computer for the desired flash file.
You
can also select Insert on the menu and then Flash Movie.
Once
the file has been inserted, resize it to fill the slide. Make sure
the width and height proportions stay the same. Change the background
slide to black for better viewing. It's that simple.
Playing
the Flash Movie
When you view the show, the file should start playing
automatically.
Before you show the file in church, it's
best to know where it ends. That's because most flash movies are programmed
to loop. If you don't escape the movie at the end, it'll probably start
again. Does your church show looping announcements on PowerPoint before
worship? Now you can insert a flash movie into those announcements.
Simply insert a blank slide in your presentation. Then insert the flash
movie. Be careful to change the transition time to match the length
of the movie.
In
the image above, the flash movie is on slide #2. Notice that each
slide is set to transition after 20 seconds.
The
flash movie takes 2 minutes and 58 seconds to play. We need to change
slide #2's transition time to 02:58.
Now
when we play the entire presentation of looping slides, the flash
movie will play in it's entirety and then transition to slide #3.
Special Note - If the Flash movie has sound, then
you will need to be connected to your church sound system or
a small stereo to hear it. For more information, read How
to Add Sound to PowerPoint.
Where to Find Flash Movies for Worship
There are a lot of flash movies developed especially for worship. Some are
for sale. Others are free.
There are lots of web sites out there
with links to great flash movies. Many of the creators are more interested
in sharing God's Word then in making money.
If you find a flash movie you like, email
them. Tell them you are interested in showing the movie in worship
and do not plan to make any money from it. Make sure to give them full
credit for their work.
You might be pleasantly surprised by the
response email.
Faith
Flashes is a great web site that sells flash movies specifically
designed for worship. But you can download the Military Flash movie
for free.
