Trying to figure out what Audio-Visual
Cable connects to what?
Working
with the AV cables is often challenging. Especially since there
never seems to be a shortage of them. Yet somehow the one you need
always seems to be missing. Go figure!
Many
people are tempted to throw the extras away. We don't recommend
that. As you continue to grow electronically, you might need them
one day.
Generally
speaking, the Audio-Visual cables you'll likely encounter are described
below. We've included their pictures for quick identification.
Power
Every piece of electronic equipment has it's own power cord which connects
to the A/C outlet.
RCA
Used to connect audio (and sometimes video) components together. Looking at
one end, you'll either see two or three connections. Red and white always connect
to audio components, and yellow always connects video. On some cables the red
connection will actually appear more orange.
S-Video
This is a special type of video cable that is often used to connect video components.
In order to use it, you must have S-Video ports on both video sources.
Video (or VGA)
Sometimes called, the VGA, this cord is used to connect two video sources together.
It's the cable most often used to connect the graphics card on the computer
to the digital projector.
